Formation of the third Pastoral Council

Since its original formation on the 12th September 2000 the Pastoral Council has assisted with the running of the parish. It meets quarterly, and much of its work is carried out by various sub-committees who report back to the quarterly meeting.

Each Pastoral Council runs for a period of three years, after which time an election is held for the chairperson and secretary of the Pastoral Council as a whole, and the chairpersons and secretaries of the various sub-committees. The general membership of the Pastoral Council, or sub-committees on which members participate, may also change at this time.

The third Pastoral Council has been formed and will run from 2007 to the end of 2009. The process of forming the council involved two meetings on December 6th 2006 and January 10th 2007. At the first of these meetings the various roles undertaken by the Pastoral Council and its sub-committees were analysed with a view to determining priorities for the next three year term. The second meeting dealt with the election of the chairpersons of the Pastoral Council and the sub-committees and the results are as follows.
